SSC Stenographer 2023 Exam Pattern

The SSC Stenographer 2023 Exam is divided into two parts, the first being a computer-based test and the second being a Shorthand/Stenography Skill test.

SSC Stenographer 2023 CBT Exam Pattern

The SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for Group C and Group D online written tests consists of multiple-choice questions. The mode of the exam is online via CBT. There are three sections with a total of 200 questions, each worth 1 mark. Candidates will get a composite time of 2 hours for the CBT round. As per the updated marking scheme, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

  • A total of 200 questions, worth one mark per question, are asked in the examination. Also, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
  • The SSC Stenographer syllabus consists of four subjects: General Intelligence and reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language.
  • The General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness sections comprise 50 questions each, while the English Languages section comprises 100 questions.
  • All 200 questions are worth 1 mark each, and there is also a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
  • There is no sectional timing, and the total time allotted for the examination is 2 hours.

Shorthand/Stenography Skill Test

  • The SSC Stenographer Skill Test is done on both paper and computer. The candidates will be dictated a passage at 80 and 100 words per minute for Groups D and C, respectively. The matter will have to be transcribed on the computer. The transcription timing is mentioned below:
    • Skill Test for Grade “C”: 40 minutes (English) and 55 minutes (Hindi)
    • Skill Test for Grade “D”: 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi)
